DIE APOKALYPTISCHEN REITER kehren auf die stürmische Insel Islay zurück, um ihren nächsten Schatz zu heben. Die Brennerei, die dieses Mal geheim bleiben muss, befindet sich an der Ostküste von Rhinns of Islay, der westlichen Halbinsel der Insel. Die Herstellung erfolgt ganz nach alter Tradition, mit dem originalen gusseisernen Maischebottich aus dem Jahr 1881, längeren Gärzeiten und langsamer Destillation, um eine geschmackvolle Spirituose zu erzeugen, die an die Blütezeit der Brennerei erinnert. Die Brennerei konzentriert sich auf das Terroir von Islay, verwendet nach Möglichkeit einheimische Gerste und lässt ihren Whisky ausschließlich auf der Insel reifen. 

10 Jahre volle Reifung in einem Madeira-Fass und Abfüllung in Fassstärke. Madeira ist portugiesischer Wein, der mit Branntwein angereichert ist, der teilweise oxidiert und während des Reifungsprozesses mehrere Monate lang hohen Lagertemperaturen ausgesetzt ist. In Madeira-Weinfässern gereifter Peated Whisky vereint in der Regel das Beste aus allen Welten. Kräftige Rauchigkeit gepaart mit fruchtiger, kräftiger Süße. Gegensätze ziehen sich an.

German metal band DIE APOKALYPTISCHEN REITER return to the stormy island of Islay to unearth their next treasure. The distillery, which has to remain secret this time, is located at the east-coast of Rhinns of Islay, the western peninsula of the island. Production is unashamedly old fashioned, using the original 1881 cast-iron mash tun, longer fermentation times and slow distillation to create a flavoursome spirit, harking back to the distillery’s heyday. Focusing on Islay’s terroir, they use local barley where possible and matures all of its whisky on the island. 

10 years of full maturation in a Madeira cask and bottling in cask strength. Madeira is Portuguese wine fortified with brandy, which is partially oxidised and exposed to high storage temperatures for several months during the maturation process. Peated whisky, matured in Madeira wine casks, usually combines the best of all worlds. Powerful smokiness paired with fruity, bold sweetness. Opposites attract. Almost like in real life.
